All In One
I have needed to blog for a bit, however time constraints have not allowed. Therefore I will knock it out all in one. I had a short break before classes resumed on the 9th so I took the time to delve into some projects that I had waiting for me. First off I started and finished a ripple baby blanket.

This was the beginning to the left. I began this on Monday and finished it last night. I was pretty impressed with how sweet it really turned out. I plan on putting it on ebay.
Then I decided to dye some yarn using pink lemonade.
This acutally looks kind of good. Petty though I was making Pho...
Side note...I am allergic to lizards. They give me chills, panic attacks and nightmares. Dad brings home baby lizards to kill the spiders around the house. This is truly not an acceptable act. Eventually they are going to attack and kill me. I believe this...nobody can convince me otherwise. So the other night I stepped out on the deck for a moment to let the dogs out and when I came back in a lizard came in with me on the door. It's 3 o'clock in the morning, lizard is climbing on the wall, Petty is still at work, I want to pee my pants, what the hhhhheeeellll do I do? I tracked the lizard for the next 45 minutes while on the phone with Petty begging him to hurry home and standing on a bar stool.

For us ladies with nothing else going on in our lives...
It has been a week today that I started back to school. So far so good. Maymesters go by so incredibly fast. Next Tuesday is my final..already had a mid-term and the homework hasn't killed me yet...yet....I repeat..cause knowing me tomorrow we will be bombarded...but so far everything seems really doable. Only problem is now i need to figure out how to make extra money without going to work full time. Ebay is going okay but I need to come up with some more products to satisfy the outgoing yarn. I also need to find someone to build my website for me. I have learned that no matter how many html books Petty buys me I can't seem to want to wrap my brain around it. Trying to recruit a son to figure it out but that's pulling teeth. haha... So yesterday I was at the nail salon getting a pedicure with my mom and I was working on a scarf for her. Yes I do know that it is 100 degrees here in Texas, but I promised her a scarf in this luscious Jaeger. So I figured it would be easy enough to finish it as a weekend project and she will have it just in time for next winter. What winters we have here anyway. That's a whole other world of hurt right there. Anyhooo we were in the salon and I was waiting for my turn. This loud mouth old hag was talking and talking and gossiping and annoying the peeeee out of me. I was trying to drown her out when I heard the lady that was doing her nails say..." I have always wanted to knit or crochet since I came to America". This sparked my interest.....I have taught a lot of people lately the basics of both so I figured I would offer to teach her when loud mouth old hag says....." Oh dear you don't want to knit or crochet...there is toooooooo much involved. You have to use different needles for crochet and different needles for knitting..(ummmm they are called hooks for crochet) there are loops and rows you have to memorize. It's just too much dear." Okay so i'm thinking to myself this lady just doesn't have the knack for the craft or doesn't think that the nail lady can handle it. I start to open my mouth when the 2x4 hit my head....."besides dear, women that crochet or knit have nothing else going on in their lives. There just isn't enough time in a day for that nonsense." WHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously!!!!! I work, go to school, raise two boys, have a social life and still manage (LORD ONLY KNOWS HOW) to get some yarny goodness mixed in it all....I sooooo wanted to slap the hag. Instead I smiled and kept on knitting....(cause I'm a wuss). I do plan on going back sometime soon and offer to teach the salon lady. Why should anyone be deprived of knowing something as enjoyable as playing
with yarn? Maybe I will take the sock I am working on...4 dpn's flying at once would've shut up the old hag :)

My first day of school
So I returned to yet another attempt at finishing school. Yeppers...today was my first day of class. I only have about 3 more semesters left then I will finally be done. It has only taken me 16 years. In class today the professor decided she wanted everyone to go around the room and introduce themselves. Okay fine...i'll introduce myself....then she puts up a power point of a list of questions everyone is required to answer after introducing themselves. Why are you taking a maymester, what do you want to do when you graduate, family life...yada yada yada..... All this is all good excpet for the fact that I HATE talking in front of people I do not know. This stems a problem. Maybe she will start on the other side of the room, in the front row and will not manage to get to me because these 18 year olds out of high school recently will be so consumed with talking about themselves taht we will run out of time. UMMMM plan did not work...I was first. Sitting in the back of the room is not advisable when you have such a bubbly 20 year old profe
ssor who thinks it will be cute to pick on you. My face turned 80 shades of red and I as calmly as I could began the quest. When I got to the family part and mentioned taht I have children the room turned to me. Then when I preceded to tell them the ages of my children (14 and 11) jaws fell. I'm not quite sure how to take the jaws falling. I am going to chalk it up to I am so extremely young for my 33 years...haha...yep that's what i'm telling myself. Anyhoo...the rest of the kids (seriously kids) went on to talk about their club scenes and they are head starting their careers at the ripe old age of 12...I FELT SO ANCIENT!!!! I keep asking myself what I am doing here. My oldest will be in college in 4 years. This is so backwards. This is my last go. It will be victory over education once and for all. Unless my precious little Akai doesnt let me study. It used to be babies that held my attention...now I have puppies.

Changes
So.....it is almost kinda springtime here and that means it is time for changes. Time for spring cleaning so to speak. I have officially quit my job...THANK GOD!!! I am going to pursue school and finally finish it. (My transcripts go back to 1992). As pathetic as that is, I will prevail and earn a degree. Hopefully a really laid back job will come along, but in the interim school will be my focus. Oh and knitting...and crocheting....of course :). I have finally come to the conclusion that the only way to avoid the kindergartenesque behavior of others is to remove myself from positions of mediocrity and improve my chances in the work force. So.....3 weeks from today I will be parachuteless and flapping my arms to survive. It seems worth it though :).

Chaos
I don't even remember the last time I logged in to my blog...I guess I could check the last post, however that would take away from the time that I have forced myself to allot for blogging. I have been really busy lately trying to get an Ebay store up and running...dedicated to crafty goodness such as yarn and supplies. It really is A LOT of work trying to maintain a stock of supplies, shipping and dealing with customers all the while working a full time job and raising two boys. UUUUUGGGGHHHH exhausted. I haven't had time to read much, but I was able to get a quick read in recently during lunch that has changed my life.... The book is called "Skinny Bitch". It can be found here http://www.skinnybitch.net/. This book gave me a totally different perspective when it comes to food. I am currently 1 week meatless. I use to love meat and am not swearing it off forever, but the thought of meat right now makes me want to vomit in my mouth. I guess I never really stopped to think of everything that is pumped into animals and the way meat is handled until this book and I don't now that I can ever go back to "just eating it" without thinking of all the junk and nastiness that is being consumed with it. I have made a life change that has been quite easy to be honest and am truly excited about opening my world up to trying new healthy foods. I have always been a "meat" eater and am not a never say never type of person, but this just really works. My puppy however will be sad because that means no more fat scraps for her little belly....

A great big knot on the noggin...
So....Saturday after much whining and moaning I convinced Petty to spend the day with me...It started off great..we went to the carwash...waited for his car to get wash....drove to his office waited for him to speak with some co-workers, then had to rush back home because the youngest child had fallen on his noggin...How you ask?? Running...just running...fell and tripped and hit his head and then we spent the rest of the day in the E.R. waiting...and waiting...and waiting....He is okay thankfully...just has a huge knot the size of a softball, but he will live...and to my horror I realized I didn't have any yarn with me at all Saturday...with all the waiting I just twiddled...my thumbs...I cannot believe how I was not prepared...will not happen again...at least I didn't have yarn and I didn't have needles or a hook....it could have been worse...I could have had one or the other...haha..sorry Kasi!! The pic below is Petty playing doctor and trying to tie the bonnet ice pack on to MA's head...

How do you spell R.E.L.I.E.F.??
I spell it by finally turning in my two week notice...YIPPEEE...I am free...I have nothing lined up to replace this job, yet I feel unbelievably calm about this. Maybe it is because I will no longer have to deal with rude wenches and people making me feel inferior on a daily basis. I was actually told today by my soon to be ex-boss that after a year and a half she feels I might actually know what I am doing...RRREEEAAALLLYYY???? I told her that I know more about what I am doing than her and everyone else in the office put together...That felt awesome!!! So....I will fulfill my obligatory two week sentence....while searching for a job and maybe take a few days to relax and knit...I want to start a new blanket (crochet) imagine that...hmmm...OH and my Ravelry invite is near...I think I am about 545 in line...so I will get to see the hype any day now...So wish me luck on not caving and staying at the ghetto vortex I am currently employed and luck on finding an amazing job...(one where I can play with yarn all day preferably)...

S..O...C...K...S....that's spanish for Socks!!!
We started sock class at The Shabby Sheep this past Saturday. It started off a little shaky for me at first...I only had half of the sisters with me...Kimi...she is about 5 thousands steps ahead of me in knitting so I was looking at her more so than the teacher..haha..I really am enjoying this though...here is my progress as of today..lunch time at work is knit/crochet time!!!
My pictures are horrible right now...I am having to use my Treo and the pics upload ugly...My mac is being mean to me....it won't accept my pics at all....it is being serviced by "The Petty"...so no worries...:-)13:31 Posted in Blog | Permalink | Comments (0) | Email this

WOW training session
So World of Warcraft is not addicting...That is the story I have been hearing. If you have control you can stop anytime....hmmmmm...this is why Petty gets on the game at 8:00 or so and goes to bed roughly at 4:30a.m. DAILY....So I guess he has been feeling guilty about all the time he has devoted to spending on the computer playing this game so he was gonna chill out a bit....yes...this was the story.....and this is what I walked into a few minutes ago....

I was told to post pics...I shall post pics...
This is the HP scarf year 3-4...albeit my rendition of this scarf seeing as I don't really know what I am doing.Things seem to be going a bit smoother since the "sisters" as they shall be referenced here on out..informed me that I knit too tight...I know this see...cause I am uptight...The sisters and I had another knit night this past Thursday. Kim was knitting a thermal sweater and Kasi started to work on hers however forgot her yarn...I thought that was really cute..haha sorry Kasi...She however was not totally unprepared because she busted out with another awesome project..It is so much fun knitting with them...they turn out flawless projects with the same hiccups as a non-superhuman. Makes knitting seem not so pretentious. So after they explained knitting should be fun and relaxing I loosened up a bit and the kneedles and yarn didn't feel like I was trying to jab a knife into a piece of wood. So here is the latest progress on this project..

It almost as good as Christmas.....
I love coming home after a crappy day at work to boxes sitting on my doorstep and packages in the mailbox...love it love it....I came home today and found the most anticipated Charmed Knits waiting for me....I already casted on for the 3-4 year scarf and only had to call Kimi for 1 thing...I need to distance out my tech support before I start getting billed. Luckily for me she is very clear in her instructions and I don't need to ask more than once. So as long as my dad doesn't kill the UPS or Fedex man...or find out what this "internet" thing is I will keep my crappy job to finance my receiving of the yarny things throughout the year.

Queen Of Wasting Time....
It is now 2:30 in the morning and I have been reading blogs since 11:00. I only got on the web to see if I could find a cool new pattern to start knitting (something easy) while waiting for my Charmed Knits book to arrive....There are soooo many interesting funny people out there...It really is shocking to read and totally relate to so many strangers. I should be doing something creative like crocheting or knitting or even reading my Harry Potter but nope...I'm reading blogs. I am so afraid that I am going to come across something on the internet that spoils the 7th book for me, yet I don't just get off of this computer and read it....oh well I can be creative tomorrow...and enjoy the creativity of others for now...

My first "real" knitting project
So I finally got over my fears of the overwhelming thoughts of knitting and agreed to a sock class. I am SOOO excited, however I have never even finished knitting a scarf on 2 needles yet alone use 4 DPN's to make a sock...*gulp* Kimi and Kasi were kind enough to show me how to make a practice sock before our sock class...I was most grateful not wanting to look like a turd when we actually go to class.....and I just want the world to know I AM A CROCHETER!!!!! I am proud....but I am also proud to add the title Knitter to my bicraftual ways!!! I just wish I would quit getting snubbed at the LYS because I learned how to crochet before knitting...come on people however you get to drool over yarn should suffice!!!!!! I also stole the pic of our crafty needle work from kimi's (sister-n-law) blog....

my tattoo
So, I finally got my tattoo... after months and months of deliberating, i finally was talked into getting one during "girls night". I stressed all day about it after kimi called to tell me that we were going to get tattoos together that evening. We went to soooo many shops and finally made an appointment to get it done. I really thought that I was going to chicken out. When we got ready to go in the room panic just spread all over me. I finally just told myself if I can have kids I can have a needle poked in me a gazillion times. When the dude started tattooing me I really wanted to pass out..but I knew Kimi would never let me live that down. The whole process really wasn't so bad. I'm glad I got it...my cute little celtic butterfly. Kimi went next and got a green apple that is beatlesque. I felt really bad for her cause it was her 2nd tat and she said the first one really didn't hurt. Her first one is an outline of a dove and this one is a big ol' green apple that is colored in. So needless to say it hurt her more this time. Her poor little hands were dripping with sweat and all the girls from girls night had arrived from going to a club after dinner. I didn't have the audience that she did...I probably would have been more scared to have it done had they all been there. I'll post a pic when I get the nerve to have someone take a picture of my butt...

My idiot children
So, I am in the restroom this morning getting the kids ready for school and Mark-Anthony is looking at himself in the mirror....He says "I am so ugly, I am not going to school". I said "You are not ugly" and he said "I messed up my eyebrows". So I take a closer look and he says " I shaved off my uni-brow". Did he ever!!! He used that stupid razor thing that mom was using to shave his neck the other day and shaved straight up the middle. So this whole time Jordan is standing there looking at Mark-Anthony like he is stupid, I am wigging out, and Mark-Anthony is almost in tears because he doesn't want to go to school and then Jordan busts out with "how do mine look"? WHAT!!!! His are even worse than the other kid!!!!! He's got mexican facial hair...it's more prominent on him!!! At least with the other one I had to look close...but I really couldn't figure out last night at baseball why Mark-Anthony looked even more like Dumb and Dumber than usual. Now I know! I thought it was just his chili bowl that made his head look more round. Now I see that it's the big gap between his big eyes..This was done after school yesterday when they were suppose to be doing homework and I wondered why the dishes weren't in the dishwasher or they weren't ready for baseball....They were playing beauty shop in the restroom....Oh and my genius of a son MA says "what do I do now, face hair doesn't grow back" GENIUS!!!
